The Sofa Search

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

Last week I shared this couch from Ikea that I am in love with. . . but even though it is from Ikea it is still cost more that I can justify spending.

So what is a girl in need* of a new couch to do? Hunt, thats right, I am a girl on a mission - find a comfy yet modern yet cheap couch to replace the oh so small/Emmett battled one I currently own.

*okay, maybe I don’t need a new couch, but I sure do want one.

Sofa Search - Badcock

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

I’ll admit, part of the reason I’m including Badcock in my search is that I just like saying it’s name. . . deep down inside all of us is a 8 year old boy dying to say Badcock slowly (you know it’s true)

The website isn’t stellar, but I’m hoping that the store itself fares a little better. . . at least there were a few things online that I didn’t hate, I even almost like the gray couch. . . so we’ll see.

The sofa search continues - mom and I are heading to Rooms To Go to look around

Sofa Search - Ashley

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

I’ve never been in an Ashley Furniture store before, but they use them all the time on Clean House, so I figured it would be worth a look. I found a few that I liked online - so I’ll be adding Ashley to the list of stores I need to hit in person.

Sofa Search - Carl’s

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

Okay, I don’t know why I included Carl’s in my online search other than the fact that there is a Carl’s store on every other corner (maybe I’m exatgrating a bit, but man, there sure is a lot of them around here).

Besides being out of my price range, they really don’t have anything I’m crazy about. . .

Sofa Search - Rooms To Go

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

I’m cheating a little on this post. . . while I did do an online search of Rooms To Go’s sofas last week, my mom and I ended up going to see them in person this past Sunday, so this post is a little late. I found 3 options instore -

  1. a gray “condo length” sofa (not pictured), the only thing I wasn’t crazy about is the fact that you can’t lay out on it
  2. the sectional pictured below - I wasn’t trilled with the color options
  3. and a brown micro-suede couch (not pictures) that was only sold as a set (and well, I don’t have the room for a set)

so the hunt continues

Sofa Search - Update

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

I mentioned before that I’ve been to both Rooms To Go and Badcock to look at their sofas in person. I found a usable option at both stores:

Please excuse the low quality camera phone pictures - the color is horribly off in each photo. The sofa on the top is from the Condo Collection at Rooms To Go and is actually a nice gray color. The sofa on the bottom is from Badcock and is actually a pretty dark brown color.

So the one thing we know for certain is that I like square sofas with tufted cushions. . .

HOLY COW!!

Dear Ikea

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

Why haven’t these chairs been restocked yet?

And when will they be back in stock? I need 4 of them for my outdoor dining table. . . It’s been over a month now. . . I know you have them in stock in the red/orange color, but I don’t want them in the red/orange color, I want them in green. . . so come on, help a girl out and get them in stock. . .

Thank you ~ Laurendy

p.s. I know I can order them online - but shipping is insane, so just restock them already

Google & Myspace - Check Yourself Out

Author:  //  Category: Uncategorized

Whether you are currently working or are looking for a job, it is important to know exactly what comes up if you “Google” your name online. Many recruiters are “Googling” candidates names as part of their final consideration process. Managers are starting to Google their employees as well (sometimes out of sheer curiosity and sometimes because they are digging for information on a problematic employee). Even HR professionals are using the internet as part of employee relations investigations such as harassment, drug use, etc.

Things to keep in mind:

* Recruiters are starting to check out myspace pages to get a better feel for who their candidates really are. All they have to do is search by your email address. Use one email address for professional activity and a totally different one for your personal stuff. Keep your personal and professional stuff as separate as possible.

* Keep your profiles as anonymous as possible. Use nicknames and fake or vague information. On your profile page, don’t state your location as “San Diego, CA”. Say something like, “West Coast” or “USA”. If your employer manages to find your page, you don’t want to give them anything to confirm that it is actually you.

* On the anonymity front…. If you really want to be cautious with this, be careful with pictures you post on your site. That is an instant giveaway. On Myspace, people can search for “Chloe” and then just skim the pictures of the search results for your picture. I don’t have any pictures on my myspace page that actually show my face.

* Don’t post stuff online that incriminates you. If you cheated your way past the new hire drug test, don’t post something online about how you did it.

* If you have a criminal record or a charge from your past, look into having your records sealed or expunged. This will prevent others from being able to discover your “mishap”, especially if it happened when you were a minor. Not every case is eligible to be sealed or expunged; ask an attorney if you qualify for this.
